punk poet, musician, writer, theatre maker & feminist showgirl.

Brigitte Aphrodite is a punk poet, musician, writer, theatre maker and feminist showgirl. During her formative years Brigitte toured extensively as a musician, alongside artists such as Kate Nash and Josie Long.  Most recently, she is best known for her critically acclaimed shows: My Beautiful Black Dog, a part gig, part theatre, punk musical exploring depression; and Parakeet, an eco-punk, genre crossing, status quo defying musical about nature, friendship and fighting for what you believe in.

Her work has sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe and Southbank Centre, toured nationally and featured in the Guardian, Elle and on the BBC 10 O’clock News. Through the Wellcome Trust a workshop based around My Beautiful Black Dog was developed and carried out in schools across the country. Brigitte’s expressive, multidisciplinary work has won her a loyal following, including the likes of Arthur Brown and Lauren Laverne.

Brigitte also mentors young artists, speaks on panel discussions, curates, DJs, presents events and teaches workshops. She is an associate artist at Hackney Showroom.
