Living legends (and dead ones too) - ON TOUR

Living Legends (And Dead Ones Too) at Power of Women Festival, 2023. Photo thanks to Cemanthe McKenzie Photography.

Join Brigitte Aphrodite on a wild literary road-trip, celebrating Living Legends (And Dead Ones Too) through original poetry, music, and stories.

With composition by Quiet Boy, the show is a welcoming, communal experience: a conversation starter, a raucous night out. Brigitte delivers captivating, standalone odes to a glittering array of legends, highlighting both sung and unsung heroes who call our nation home. The legends include David Bowie in Bromley, Poly Styrene in Hastings and Aphra Behn in Canterbury to name but a few. The show collects local legends from every venue it is performed, which appear on Brigitte’s beautifully illustrated dress and becomes part of the fabric and conversation of future performances as it tours around the country. Commissioned by Inn Crowd, the show features dress design by Siobhan Hogan and legend illustrations by Megan Metcalf.

Written and performed by Brigitte Aphrodite. Composition and guitar by Quiet Boy.

SAD - on tour

Poster thanks to Siobhan Hogan & Jade Spranklen (Studio Spranks).

Grief and cycles is just something that we all share. We all have to go through it... it doesn’t mean that it has to be a lonely place
— Quiet Boy

SAD is a musically-driven experience which explores how life’s natural cycles and grief affects the human condition.

SAD uses breathtaking visuals, original music, poetry and storytelling from Brigitte Aphrodite and Quiet Boy’s unique style of theatre-making. The aim for the project is to take the audience on a deeply immersive, personal journey that offers comfort at its lowest points and absolute freedom, joy, and clarity when the light eventually floods in.

Inspiration from the project came when Quiet Boy’s mum died and he began to think about hibernation, light, leaves falling and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

As a musician, he turned to music to grieve and what he composed in this period is the foundation of the music performed in SAD.

Directed by Kirsty Housley (Riz Ahmed’s The Long Goodbye, Tao of Glass, Encounter).
